LEDs
LUXSOLI uses LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) in all its street light models. An LED is a small area light source, consisting of a semiconductor diode which emits light when electrical current is supplied to it.
The emitted color depends on the composition and condition of the material of the semiconductor - a wide variety of colors can be produced.
LEDs were first widely used as indicator lights on electronic devices, but have meanwhile found their place in the lighting industry, where they are the considered the leading technology of the future.
LEDs offer a multitude of advantages compared to classic light sources used in traditional street lights. One main advantage of LEDs is their high energy efficiency which has increased tremendously during the last years.
Another key advantage of the LEDs is their long life cycle compared to other illuminants. While conventional light sources have to be replaced after about 4,000 to 20,000 hrs, LEDs have an average life span of 30,000 – 50,000 operating hours. Maintenance costs can be considerably reduced by installing LED based street lights.
As there is no infrared nor ultraviolet radiation, insects do not get attracted by LED based lights.
LED are overall considered as eco-friendly: they are non-toxic, therefore do not require any special waste disposal after their long life cycle.
